where would we be today without the invention of the internet? does anyone ever think about this when they're checking their email, updating their facebook status, or even typing a new blog post?
its amazing to think about how FAST information can be accessed through the internet. what's the population of Mobile, Alabama? 198,915. how long did it take to find that. approx 30 seconds. THANK YOU, Wikipedia. if i didn't have the internet and needed to know that, it would take 30 minutes to go into the library, find the right encyclopedia, turn to the right page, and read through until i found the number AND EVEN THEN, that info might not be very up-to-date. but thanks to Tim Bernes-Lee, we now have the wonderful WORLD WIDE WEB to search for all our answers.
Facebook is also a pretty awesome invention as well. Its really neat using it now after i saw the movie "The Social Network" (which i WAS gonna do for my Movie Review choice assignment BUT forgot to print it off in time to turn it in, therefore did not get to turn it in even though i did the assignment, i'm very heartbroken about it Professor Purvis, if you're reading this) ANYWAYS. i liked getting to see how everything started. its interesting that it started at one ivy league college and now is used by almost EVERYONE. its like a disease thats spread all over the world. i like how you can learn someones name one second and the next you can get on your iPhone and know lots about them through a simple facebook search. SUPER CREEPY, but still really cool.
there's another cool invention. the Iphone! i love how we went from giant brick phones to small computer phones. you can do almost anything with the iphone that you can do with a computer. EVEN web chat now with the iPhone 4. my boyfriend and i are ALWAYS arguing about whether the iPhone or the Droid is a better phone. sorry honey, the iPhone 4 has a web cam. WIN. also as i always argue, Words with Friends. iPhone has it;, Droid doesn't.
